SEOUL, Jan. 19 (Yonhap) -- EXO is set to make its return with a new full-length album, its first in more than two years.
SM Entertainment said Monday that the boy group will release its eighth studio album, "REVERXE," at 6 p.m. later in the day.
"REVERXE" comes two years and six months after EXO’s seventh full-length album, "EXIST," released in July 2023. Six members — Suho, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai, Sehun and Lay — participated in the new album.
The album features nine tracks, including the title song "Crown," the warm winter-themed song "I’m Home," and "Suffocate," which conveys the pain of a breakup in a restrained mood.
"Crown" is a hard dance track highlighted by Atlanta trap drums, heavy metal guitar and EDM synthesizers. The song compares a precious person to a crown, expressing a desperate determination to protect them at all costs.
EXO will also unveil the music video for "Crown" on its YouTube channel. In the video, the members perform choreography that depicts seizing and placing a crown atop their heads, accompanied by various symbolic elements.
After a hiatus due to mandatory military service, EXO completed enlistments for all members with Sehun’s discharge in September last year. The group resumed team activities by holding a fan meeting in December.
