SEOUL, March 3 (Yonhap) --

CJ Olive Young, a leading platform for reverse direct purchases of K-beauty products, said on Tuesday that it will run its first “Season Sale” of the year on its global mall through March 7.

The Season Sale, the global version of Olive Young’s signature “Olive Young Sale,” is held four times a year — in March, June, September and December. The event offers popular K-beauty products in Korea at competitive prices, with tailored discounts and benefits varying by country.

Amid the global spread of the Korean Wave, interest in K-beauty continues to grow. Korea’s cosmetics exports reached a record high of $11.4 billion (about 16.6 trillion won) last year. Since its launch in 2019, Olive Young Global Mall has showcased a wide range of K-beauty and wellness products through its seasonal sales, posting strong short-term sales growth and serving as a gateway for emerging brands to expand their global recognition.

The company said order volume during last year’s first Season Sale surged 107 percent from a year earlier, demonstrating its sales-driving effect. The number of participating brands has also more than tripled compared with the initial launch of the event in 2021.

This season’s sale features a curated selection of skincare for hydration during Korea’s spring transition, color cosmetics for a seasonal refresh and trendy wellness products reflecting the K-lifestyle. A “Time Deal” promotion will offer additional one-day discounts on four to seven featured items daily, along with curated selections of hero and trending brands favored by global customers.

Participating brands include Numbuzin, Dr. Althea, Round Lab, Mediheal, Anua, JungSaemMool, Foodology, fwee and Flimeal. For customers in the United States and Canada, where demand for sun care is high, the company has prepared a special best-selling sun care promotion, among other region-specific offerings.

To boost global customers’ access to K-beauty, the company is also enhancing coupon benefits. Shoppers accessing the site from Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and Israel will receive cart coupons offering discounts of 30 percent or more. A separate 20 percent first-come, first-served coupon is available for customers who download the app during the sale period, and the two coupons can be applied together. Additional discounts are available for first-time buyers.

An Olive Young official said the global mall has served as a stepping stone for promising emerging brands to enter overseas markets, leveraging country-specific product curation and promotions, affordable shipping fees and fast delivery lead times. The company added it will continue to strengthen differentiated content such as the Season Sale to expand global touchpoints for partner brands and support sustainable growth of the K-beauty industry.

As of the end of last year, Olive Young Global Mall had about 4.53 million members and has maintained solid growth centered on markets such as the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom, solidifying its position as a leading reverse direct-purchase platform for Korean cosmetics.
