'The King's Warden' nears 7 mln admissions, total hits 6.73 mln

SEOUL, Feb. 27 (Yonhap) -- Filmmaker Jang Hang-jun’s film "The King's Warden" is expected to surpass 7 million admissions over the weekend.

 

According to data from the Korean Film Council on Friday, the film drew about 204,000 moviegoers the previous day, accounting for 73.2 percent of total box office revenue, firmly maintaining its lead at the local box office.

 

Since its release on Feb. 4, the film has accumulated about 6.73 million admissions, continuing to attract between 200,000 and 300,000 viewers per day on weekdays.

 

"Humint," starring Zo In-sung, Park Jeong-min and Shin Se-kyung, remained in second place after drawing about 21,000 viewers (8.1 percent revenue share) the previous day. Its cumulative admissions reached about 1.69 million.

 

Foreign films released on Tuesday ranked third and fourth at the local box office.

 

The live-action adaptation of the Japanese animated film of the same title, "5 Centimeters per Second," attracted about 9,000 viewers to rank third, while Chinese animated film "Ne Zha 2" came in fourth with about 5,000 viewers.

 

As of 9 a.m., the top three films in reservation rate mirrored the previous day’s box office rankings.

 

"The Man Who Lives with the King" topped the reservation chart with a 68.1 percent share, with about 328,000 moviegoers having booked tickets in advance.

 

"Humint" ranked second with a 4.8 percent reservation rate, followed by "5 Centimeters per Second" at 2.5 percent.
