SEOUL, March 5 (Yonhap) -- Hit crime thriller Signal is set to return with its highly anticipated second season after a decade, tvN announced on Wednesday.
The show, which follows detectives from the past and present communicating via a walkie-talkie to solve long-unsolved cases, will return with the second season in the first half of next year, the broadcaster said.
Originally aired in 2016, Signal was a major hit, recording an average rating of 13.4 percent and a peak of 15 percent.
The original lead cast will reprise their roles: Kim Hye-soo as cold case detective Cha Soo-hyun, Cho Jin-woong as homicide detective Lee Jae-han, and Lee Je-hoon as profiler Park Hae-young.
Acclaimed screenwriter Kim Eun-hee, who wrote the first season, returns for the sequel, while director Ahn Tae-jin takes the helm.
The production team stated, "To repay the love and support for Season 1, we are fully committed to delivering a more thrilling and deeply engaging Season 2."
