SEOUL, Oct. 12 (Yonhap) -- World’s biggest online streaming service Netflix will sell Korean original series “Squid Game” with Walmart Inc., a large American retailer.
Netflix has set up an online store “Netflix Hub” (walmart.com/netflix) on Walmart to release hit productions’ goods such as “Squid Game,” medias including The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 11th.
At the store, goods related to popular Netflix contents such as “Stranger Things,” The Witcher,” “Cocomelon” and “Squid Game” will be on sale as well.
Walmart said that they will soon launch “Squid Game’ T-shirts in various styles and prices.
Although Netflix is running its own online store, they have partnered with Walmart as a strategic act to find a new source for profit along with their main business, securing OTT users, and to promote their contents marketing, WSJ reported.
“Selling goods is important as well, but its real value lies in that it will strengthen the fans love towards our series and films,” said Josh Simon, Netflix’s vice president of consumer products division.
