SEOUL, July 2 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actor Chae Jong-hyeop will star in the Japanese series "The Rules of Vacation," which premieres July 27, his agency Blitzway Entertainment said Thursday.

 

The romance series, an original production for Japanese streaming platform ABEMA, follows Hoshino Midori, played by Kanna Hashimoto, who falls in love with a mysterious man named Nishigami after meeting him at a seaside villa while seeking a break from her busy daily life.

 

Chae plays Nishigami, an enigmatic man who manages the villa area in Tatsumi Village.

 

His co-star, Hashimoto, is widely known in Japan by the nickname "once-in-a-thousand-years idol" for her youthful appearance.

 

Chae previously starred in the 2024 TBS primetime drama "Eye Love You," becoming the first South Korean actor to lead a drama broadcast during the Japanese network's evening primetime slot.

 

"The Rules of Vacation" will also be available on Netflix beginning July 31.
