SEOUL, Jan. 30 (Yonhap) - Japanese animation "The First Slam Dunk," which entered its fourth week of release, has topped the box office for the first time on the weekend.
According to Korean Film Council's Box-office Information System on Monday, "The First Slam Dunk" has topped the list last weekend (27-29th) with 249,000 viewers (21.5% of sales share). The cumulative number of viewers until the previous day was 1,922,000 people.
"The First Slam Dunk," which was released on the 4th of this month, topped the list for the first time on the 27th, the 24th day of its release, and has been leading for three consecutive days until the previous day.
Director Lim Soon-rye's new film "The Point Men," which topped the box office last weekend, has attracted more than 205,000 (17.5%) audiences for three days and fell to second place.
Third place was "Avatar: The Way of Water," which added 187,000 (22.4%) over the weekend, recording a cumulative audience of 1,358,000 until the previous day.
Romance film "Someday or One Day" (5th, 80,000 people) and horror film "M3GAN" (6th, 79,000 people) were also ranked in the top 10.
Over the weekend, director Yoon Je-kyun's musical film "Hero" (7th) surpassed 3 million, and the Japanese romance film "Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight" (9th) surpassed 1 million.
