SEOUL, Apr. 10 (Yonhap) -- A long array of K-pop stars will be on the stage in Busan in order to share their voices in supporting the city as the host for the upcoming 2030 Busan Expo.

HD Hyundai’s 29th Dream Concert, which touts itself as the largest K-pop event in Korea, will be held at the Asiad Main Stadium in Busan on May 27. A slew of red-hot K-pop groups, including IVE, Red Velvet, and NCT Dream, performed in the last year’s Dream Concert.

Previous Dream Concerts have exclusively been held in Seoul – the capital city of South Korea – so far. However, HD Hyundai intends to hold the concert in the port city of Busan for the very first time this year to support the city as the host for the Busan Expo.

This year’s Dream Concert will also mark the official closing ceremony of the World Climate Industry EXPO (WCE 2023), which will be co-hosted by the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy, as well as the Ministry of Environment. The EXPO is expected to be held in BEXCO, Busan, four days from May 24.

The WCE will invite overseas leaders of countries interested in the climate crisis, such as major Pacific islands and Caribbean countries, as well as domestic and foreign companies, international organizations, and government agencies also related to the global climate industry.

HD Hyundai will also be sending invitations to several overseas top figures who will be attending the WCE also to the concert to actively promote Busan as the host city of the 2030 Expo. The highly anticipated Dream Concert will also be live broadcasted worldwide via SBS Media Net and online platforms.

More than 200 children who are being protected by the international child relief organization Save the Children as well as child welfare centers in the city will also be invited to this upcoming large-scale concert.

“We are looking forward to the Dream Concert serving as a great opportunity to show the world the Korean people’s unparalleled enthusiasm, zest, and passion to host the 2030 Expo in Busan,” an official from HD Hyundai said. “We will continue to make the Dream Concert a global annual event that raises the national status and pride.”
