SEOUL, Sept. 29 (Yonhap) -- "Mission: Mompossible," a drama portraying the eventful lives of mothers, got off to a 7 percent ratings start.

 

The first episode of the KBS 1TV daily series, which aired Monday, recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 7.7 percent, according to Nielsen Korea on Tuesday.

 

The episode depicted the daily lives of mothers navigating their lives in different ways.

 

Jo Mi-mi, played by Kim Hee-jung, runs a samgyetang restaurant and busily prepares for business even on her birthday. Her three children, whom she raised alone after divorcing 23 years ago, forgot their mother's birthday, but her former mother-in-law, Choi Soon-deok, played by Yang Hee-kyung, prepared seaweed soup for her, saying, "Thank you for being born."

 

Jo's ex-husband, Kang Hak-seong, played by Lee Han-wi, then suddenly reappears after cutting off contact with her and disappearing following their divorce.

 

Jeon Jin-hee, played by Kang Kyung-heon, is the head of clothing company Hwanggeum Apparel and has built a successful life with seemingly nothing to envy. But her mother-in-law, Hwang Geum-soon, played by Kim Young-ok, begins showing symptoms of dementia and scolds her daughter-in-law.

 

The drama is written by Na Seung-hyun, who wrote "The Secret House," and directed by Sung Joon-hae, who helmed "Cheer Up My Life" and "Dare to Love Me."
