SEOUL, May 3 (Yonhap) – The pre-orders for K-pop boy group Seventeen's new full album, which is set to be released in about two years and eight months, has exceeded 1.7 million.

According to the agency Pledis Entertainment and record distributor YG Plus on Tuesday, the pre-orders for Seventeen's fourth full album "Face the Sun" surpassed 1.74 million copies at home and abroad. It has been a week since the pre-sale started.

The agency explained, "The figure far exceeds the pre-orders for the 9th mini album ‘Attacca,’ which recorded 1.41 million copies, breaking its own record.”

Accordingly, Seventeen's new album is expected to continue its “million seller” record.

Since the group’s third full album "An Ode" dropped in September, 2019, they have sold more than a million copies of each album, including "Heng:garæ," "Semicolon,” "Your Choice," and "Attacca."

In particular, "Your Choice" and "Attacca" recorded initial sales of more than a million copies, which totals up the record a week after its release, becoming the only singers who achieved the “million seller” for two consecutive years.

Seventeen is set to release the album "Face the Sun" on May 27.

The group will drop the album on Friday at 1 p.m.(KST), which is Friday midnight in Eastern Standard Time, and it seems to have aimed to enter major charts at home and abroad, including Billboard.

The staff from the agency said, "Seventeen will take a step closer to their fans as a more sincere artist by expressing their personal stories that they have not been able to tell easily this year."

Seventeen will hold the concert “SEVENTEEN 2022 JAPAN FANMEETING HANABI” at Saitama Super Arena in Japan from May 7 to 8 and meet 60,000 fans.
