SEOUL, April 3 (Yonhap) -- Amid a primetime lineup dominated by intense revenge thrillers and cerebral dramas, MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama Bunny and the Brothers seeks to bring a refreshing change with a lighthearted youth romance set on a college campus.

 

Premiering on April 11, the drama follows fine arts student Ban Hee-jin (played by Roh Jeong-eui), who finds herself caught in the affections of four uniquely charming male leads—Hwang Jae-yeol (Lee Chae-min), Cha Ji-won (Jo Jun-young), Jo Ah-rang (Kim Hyun-jin), and Jin Hyun-oh (Hong Min-gi).

 

Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, Bunny and the Brothers amassed a total of 1.7 billion views during its serialization, drawing considerable attention from fans.

At a press conference held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul on Wednesday, director Kim Ji-hoon said, “I enjoy genre-heavy dramas as well, but Bunny and the Brothers offers something different. It captures the fresh and lovable charm of young actors, catering to a distinct audience with its own unique appeal.”

 

Roh Jeong-eui, who plays the lovable and popular Ban Hee-jin, shared her enthusiasm for the project, saying, “Filming this drama was a joy. My character exudes a natural charm, and I focused on expressing that.”

 

Lee Chae-min, who plays Hwang Jae-yeol, a returning student who starts off bickering with Hee-jin but gradually warms up to her, remarked, “Since most of the cast members are around the same age, we had a lot of fun on set. I hope that energy comes through to viewers.”

 

The cast also noted that their own university experiences helped them relate to their roles. Jo Jun-young, who plays Cha Ji-won, a senior student returning to school after military service, laughed as he recalled, “My character is from the class of 2021 and a 24-year-old returning student. Coincidentally, I also enrolled in 2021 and recently returned to campus. Like Ji-won, I’ve even gotten lost trying to find my way around campus.”

 

Originally scheduled to premiere on April 4, Bunny and the Brothers was postponed by a week due to a special news broadcast covering the Constitutional Court’s ruling on President Yoon Suk Yeol’s impeachment trial.

 

 

Addressing the delay, director Kim took a positive stance, saying, “Scheduling decisions aren’t something I can say I’m disappointed or not disappointed about. Instead, I see this as an opportunity, and I’m choosing to look at it positively.”
