SEOUL, June 30 (Yonhap) -- Source Music, the agency of K-pop girl group Le Sserafim, on Tuesday vowed to take firm legal action against cyber defamation channels spreading false information about the group and those involved in deepfake sex crimes targeting its artists.
"We will respond firmly without leniency by pursuing every available civil and criminal legal measure against acts that infringe on our artists' rights and interests," the agency said in a statement posted on the fan platform Weverse.
Source Music said it is taking a particularly hard line against deepfake sex crimes involving its artists.
"We recently submitted a written statement expressing that we have absolutely no intention of reaching a settlement in order to help our artists recover from the harm and eradicate such crimes, and that we seek the strongest punishment allowed by law," it said.
The agency also pledged strict action against malicious online content, including videos produced by so-called cyber "recka" channels, which profit by spreading rumors and sensational content.
"Content produced by malicious creators spreads rapidly through online communities and social media, causing irreparable psychological and tangible harm to our artists," the agency said. "We will hold those responsible for malicious posts targeting our artists accountable to the very end."
Source Music added that it is continuously pursuing legal action against individuals identified through its internal monitoring system as having posted content that infringes on its artists' rights.
"Many of these cases are currently under investigation," it said. "We will maintain our zero-tolerance policy."
Le Sserafim released its second full-length album, "PUREFLOW" pt.1, last month and is set to hold solo concerts at Inspire Arena in Incheon on July 11-12.
