South Korean mega-hit boy group Tomorrow X Together's 5th EP, titled "The Name Chapter: Temptation," sold 1,868,919 copies Friday, BigHit Music said, quoting data from local album sales tracker Hanteo Chart.

TXT is the second K-pop act to hit 1.8 million on an album's debut day after BTS. "Sugar Rush Ride," the main track of the 5th EP, has been sitting on No. 3 on Melon's "Top 100 Songs" chart as of midnight Friday.

In the meantime, the EP had topped iTunes' Top Albums charts in 30 territories worldwide while its lead single ranked No. 1 in 17 regions on the service's Top Songs charts as of 9 a.m. Saturday.

The 5th EP of this mega-hit five-piece group delicately unfurls the story of youth swaying in front of the temptation to live in the present, enjoy freedom and entertainment even though they know they have to grow up.

The "Melon Hall of Fame," consisting of several clubs including the "Billions Club" section commemorating artists who have more than 1 billion streams since their debut, listed BTS as the only artist to have achieved more than 10 billion streams. The group was named a member of the “Dia” club with the group’s cumulative streaming surpassing 12.1 billion times.

Several full-length, single, and mini-albums released after January 1, 2023, were also compiled and listed in the "Million Albums" section. So far, NewJeans’ "OMG," MONSTA X's "REASON" and Taeyang's "VIBE (ft. Jimin of BTS)" made it to the prestigious list of “Million Albums.”

According to the 2022 Annual Retail Album Chart released on Monday by the Circle Chart, previously known as the Gaon Music Chart, which tabulates the relative weekly popularity of songs and albums in South Korea, Stray Kids’ “MAXIDENT” was the most-sold album in Korea last year, with 1.3 million copies sold.

Along with “MAXIDENT,” Stray Kids also had another album “ODDINARY” sitting at No.9 with 510,000 copies sold, having two albums enlisted on the Top 10 chart.

The Circle Chart’s Retail Album Chart reports a tally of actual sales at offline retailers, which is distinctive from the familiar album charts which are usually based on shipments.

“Avatar: The Way of Water” hit the 10 million mark in admissions on the 42nd day of its release in South Korea, four days later than the previous sequel, which became a 10-million-movie only in 38 days.

With “Avatar 2” making to the list of movies that have hit 10 million admissions alongside the first season of the Avatar franchise, the sequel marks the third sequel to have surpassed 10 million viewers along with the first season.

The cumulative sales of “Avatar 2,” since its release in South Korea on Dec. 14, has passed the 100 billion won mark and recorded 128.5 billion won as of Wednesday afternoon, surpassing the 128.4 billion won that the 2009 epic “Avatar” brought in sales.

With such big numbers, “Avatar 2” became the highest-grossing foreign film released in South Korea and the fourth-highest film among all films, including those of Korea.
