SEOUL, April 15 (Yonhap) -- K-pop boy group ATEEZ made their debut stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, marking the first performance by a K-pop boy group at this renowned American music festival, its agency said on the 15th.
At the big-name event held on April 13 (U.S. time), ATEEZ kicked off their performance with "Say My Name," shouting "What's up, Coachella!" to immediately ignite the atmosphere.
ATEEZ continued their performance with hit songs such as "HALA HALA," "Guerrilla," "Wave," and "BOUNCY," energizing the audience with their powerful stage presence.
Especially during their performance of "Ming," they introduced traditional props resembling flags with symbols of the four legendary creatures (Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise), showcasing Korea's unique beauty through vibrant LED visuals.
In a unique fusion, ATEEZ incorporated the traditional Korean folk game "Ganggangsullae" into their choreography, presenting a spinning performance reminiscent of "Bingbing," according to ATEEZ' agency, KQ Entertainment. The group even featured a lively lion mask dance performance by members of the Bongsan Talchum (Bongsan Mast Dance) Preservation Society, a team dedicated to preserving Korea's intangible cultural heritage.
Their final stage "Wonderland" featured a monumental Kraken-like structure, with member Seonghwa wielding a sword to create a dramatic scene as the Kraken fell, captivating the audience.
Throughout the performance, ATEEZ engaged with the audience in English, roaming around the stage to interact closely with fans.
ATEEZ expressed their gratitude, saying, "We were deeply moved to see everyone enjoying our stage and singing along. We are truly thankful to everyone who came to see ATEEZ, especially our ATINY (ATEEZ fandom)."
The approximately one-hour-long performance showcased ATEEZ's strong live performance skills, honed through their world tours, and received praise for delivering their full talents to the local audience.
ATEEZ will hold their second performance at Coachella on April 19 (local time), promising to present an even more enjoyable stage and asking fans to look forward to their upcoming performance next week.
