SEOUL, June 14 (Yonhap) -- "We made this album with the mood of looking back on our memories and wrap up our page 1." (V)
K-pop superband BTS looked back on the past during “Proof Live” held on YouTube to mark its 9th debut anniversary on June 13(KST), saying, "I think it is more authentic to do what we want to do rather than to go on a safe path."
BTS debuted nine years ago on June 13, 2013, with the single "2 COOL 4 SKOOL.”
The group has maintained its presence as a global star by releasing hits songs, including "Dynamite" and "Butter,” over the past two years when the world suffered from the spread of COVID-19.
However, J-Hope explained, "I didn't know ‘Dynamite’ would make a hit like the name of the song," adding, "It's true that it was more loved than expected, but I didn't want to be an artist who kept doing the same thing. That's how the ‘BE’ album came out.”
RM said, "A lot of what we've done since 2020 has not been planned at all. There were a lot of things that weren’t fixed where I decided on at that time.”
Then, he also mentioned in a serious manner, "I was scared as I was walking, thinking, 'Is this right?' and I thought a lot about whether it was the right answer," adding, "I want to tell you that we have worked hard."
BTS released the new album “Proof,” which embodies the history of the group that has been active for the past nine years, on June 10. The album sold more than 2 million copies on the day of its release.
