SEOUL, Aug. 5 (Yonhap) -- Korea Venture Investment Corp. (KVIC) said Wednesday it held an event celebrating The Muze Entertainment's emergence as a "KVIC Beyond & Bridge K-content Growth Company" and appointed the agency as an honorary ambassador.
The event was designed to highlight the success of a small entertainment agency that received investment from a Korea Fund of Funds-backed venture fund and has demonstrated its ability to plan and produce artists independently while expanding its growth potential in the global market.
RESCENE, the five-member girl group under The Muze Entertainment, recently topped major domestic music charts and has expanded its overseas activities by releasing Japanese-language music and entering local music charts in Japan.
The Muze Entertainment has received investment from Korea Fund of Funds-backed venture funds managed by SmartStudy Ventures, KNET Investment Partners, JB Investment and Michigan Venture Capital. Of the company's total investment of 6.19 billion won (US$4.5 million), the funds contributed 5.5 billion won.
KVIC said it plans to use the event as an opportunity to strengthen support for investment attraction and overseas expansion for promising small and medium-sized content companies.
The agency also said it will discuss with The Muze Entertainment ways to promote venture businesses by utilizing RESCENE's role as an honorary ambassador.
"RESCENE's success shows that even small content companies can achieve meaningful market results when differentiated planning capabilities are combined with timely investment," KVIC Chief Executive Lee Dae-hee said. "We will further strengthen the role of the venture investment platform so promising K-content companies can grow steadily and expand into global markets."
