SEOUL, April 23 (Yonhap) -- Webtoon artist and TV personality Kian84, whose real name is Kim Hee-min, has donated a total of 100 million won (US$73,000) to 100 elderly people who collect recyclable waste for a living, his agency AOMG said Wednesday.
Kian84 revealed the process and motivation behind the donation through the "Donation Designer" segment on the YouTube channel "Celeb In."
The recipients were selected by the Seodaemun Ward Office among elderly waste collectors in need of assistance or those in welfare blind spots.
Raised by his grandmother, Kian84 said he had long wanted to help elderly people who work hard to make ends meet.
The donation was carried out as part of his ongoing "100 Challenge."
Kian84 first launched the "100 Challenge" in 2024 by providing 1 million won per child to help those in orphanages purchase needed items.
In January last year, he and fellow webtoon artist Park Tae-joon donated a total of 60 million won, giving 1 million won each to 60 children in orphanages.
