SEOUL, Nov. 2 (Yonhap) -- Actor Park Bo-gum (28), who is currently serving the Navy, has been promoted as sergeant.
Park, who works for a naval military band and honor guard unit, had rose to the position as sergeant the previous day, according to a military official on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old actor applied for the keyboard part of the Navy's Military Music and Medical Corps last year, passed through practical and interview tests, and began serving in the military on August 31 of the same year.
Park is scheduled to be officially discharged from the military on Apr. 30, 2022.
However, if the actor does not use his military leave before his discharge date, Park is expected to be complete his mandatory military service earlier in March..
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, all military soldiers, who use their military leave before the official completion date of their service in the military, will be discharged from the army due to the Ministry of National Defense's unreturned discharge policy.
Park is known to have more than a month of unused military leave while serving the army.
Meanwhile, Park, who has now become a sergeant, will host the 76th anniversary of the Navy's establishment at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 at the Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, Seoul. It is one of last official event Park's military service, a military official said.
