SEOUL, July 1 (Yonhap) -- "Join us for an amazing evening tonight!" (Karina)

On the evening of the 30th, Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, was filled with the booming sounds and enthusiastic cheers of fans. Hit songs like "Drama," "Black Mamba," and "Supernova" played one after another, intensifying the crowd's excitement. This was all part of girl group aespa's second solo concert, "SYNK: PARALLEL LINE."

Over the two days of the concert, starting from the 29th, the four members of aespa entertained a total of 12,000 spectators with a rich array of performances. Debuting in 2020 with "Black Mamba," aespa has opened the era of the fourth-generation girl groups with their distinctive heavy sound and futuristic worldview, contrary to the prevailing easy-listening trend in K-pop.

At the concert, aespa immersed fans in their unique heavy sound, often referred to as "metallic" by K-pop fans, leading them into a new world. The stage at Jamsil Indoor Stadium was set up with a massive LED screen surrounding it from the front, sides, top, and back, providing an expansive view for the audience.

aespa kicked off the concert by cutting through the semi-transparent LED screen in black outfits, performing "Drama." As the performance heated up, the crowd's chants grew louder, especially during songs like "Black Mamba" and "Supernova."

Ningning warmed up the atmosphere by saying, "Let's have fun tonight," while Winter encouraged the fans, "It's a beautiful night. The energy feels even better than yesterday."

True to the concert's title, aespa presented an expanded multiverse concept. Throughout the concert, VCR clips conveyed messages like "Am I the only one?" and "The truth sometimes exists side by side."

This allowed for a seamless blend of powerful songs like "Black Mamba" and "Girls" with more upbeat tracks like "Spicy" and "Supernova." The show was further enhanced by various special effects, including a tiered lift, fireworks, and fog effects.

aespa also reinterpreted the hit song "Regret of the Times" by Seo Taiji and Boys, performing it like rock stars with a stand microphone. Each member shined on their solo stages, delighting fans.

Giselle showcased the dreamy R&B track "Dopamine," which she helped write and compose. Karina presented the hip-hop dance song "Up," featuring lyrics she wrote herself. She captivated the audience with her sporty look and intense choreography. Winter exuded a goddess-like aura with the EDM track "Spark," performing a captivating dance. Ningning performed the R&B dance track "Bored."

Karina, beaming with pride, made a 'V' sign towards the audience, saying, "I had the opportunity to write lyrics and share them with you. While my members brought trendy songs, I decided to go old-school with hip-hop. I look forward to preparing an even more fun concert next time."

Winter explained, "The song 'Spark' symbolizes how a single spark can ignite us. I engraved 'MY' (aespa's fandom name) on my in-ear and microphone, and I wanted to share this stage with our MYs. I promise to show you more new sides in the future."

During the concert, Naevis, a character from aespa's lore and SM Entertainment's first virtual artist set to debut, made a surprise appearance as a guest. However, seeing the previously mysterious helper character suddenly dancing K-pop felt a bit unfamiliar.

The concert was attended by senior SM artist Taeyeon, as well as Hyeri and John Park, who appeared with Karina on the variety show "Mystery Squad," showing their support for aespa.

Starting with this concert in Seoul, aespa will embark on a world tour, performing in Fukuoka, Nagoya, Saitama, Osaka, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei, Tokyo, Jakarta, Sydney, Melbourne, Macau, and Bangkok over the next few months. They plan to meet global fans with tours in the Americas and Europe next year.
