SEOUL, July 28 (Yonhap) -- BLACKPINK member Jennie has topped a Billboard radio chart that has traditionally been difficult for K-pop artists to break into, becoming only the second K-pop-related act to reach No. 1.

U.S. business magazine Forbes reported Monday (U.S. time) that "Dracula," Jennie's collaboration with Tame Impala, climbed to No. 1 on Billboard's weekly Adult Pop Airplay chart.

Introduced by Billboard in 1996, the Adult Pop Airplay chart measures the number of times songs are played on 40 adult pop radio stations across the United States.

While numerous K-pop songs have reached the upper ranks of Billboard's flagship charts, including the Hot 100 and Billboard 200, the genre has historically struggled to gain traction on U.S. radio.

Unlike album sales and streaming figures, which can be driven by dedicated fan bases, radio airplay generally requires broader mainstream appeal across diverse audiences in the United States.

Before Jennie's achievement, the only K-pop-related song to top the Adult Pop Airplay chart was "Golden," the theme song from the Netflix animated film "KPop Demon Hunters."

Performed by Korean American singer EJAE, Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna, "Golden" reached No. 1 on the chart in January, buoyed by the film's widespread popularity.

"Dracula" has now become the second K-pop-related song to claim the top spot on the chart.

The song was originally released as a solo track by Australian musician Tame Impala in October last year. A remix featuring Jennie, released in February, went viral on short-form video platforms and staged a strong comeback on the charts.

The song currently sits at No. 1 on seven Billboard charts, including Pop Airplay, Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs, Hot Alternative Songs, Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and Dance Streaming Songs.
