SEOUL, June 17 (Yonhap) -- Felix of K-pop boy group Stray Kids has been selected as the model for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's "Hanbok Wave" project to promote the beauty of traditional Korean attire to global audiences.

The ministry and the Korea Craft and Design Foundation said Wednesday that Felix had been chosen as the Hallyu artist for the "2026 Hanbok Wave" project and will work with five domestic hanbok brands to showcase the elegance and sophistication of hanbok.

Now in its seventh year, the Hanbok Wave project collaborates with Hallyu stars to promote hanbok worldwide and support the overseas expansion of promising Korean hanbok brands. Actor Park Bo-gum participated last year, while actress Kim Tae-ri joined in 2024, actress Suzy in 2023 and former Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yuna in 2022.

Applications for companies to plan and develop hanbok products will be accepted from Wednesday through July 10.

The project is open to small and medium-sized enterprises in the hanbok sector, with five companies to be selected based on creativity, expertise, feasibility and potential impact.

The selected companies will develop hanbok designs reflecting Felix's image and symbolic appeal.

The completed hanbok creations will be unveiled through promotional content and digital billboards in major cities around the world, including Seoul, New York, Paris and Milan.

Further information is available on the websites of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Craft and Design Foundation.
