4K version of 'The Host' to premiere in France in March

SEOUL February 8 (Yonhap) -- South Korean film director Bong Joon-ho who surprised France with his feature film “Parasite” will be visiting France with his movie “The Host.”

Director Bong will be hosting master classes in Paris and Lyon on February 26 and 27 before the premiere of re-mastered version of his old movie “The Host” in 4k on March 8.

According to the movie industry, movie theater Le Grand Rex, located in Paris will be showcasing director Bong’s movie “The Host” and “Parasite” back to back on March 8.

On the day of its premiere, in between the screening of “The Host” and “Parasite” director Bong will take the stage on the master class hosted by the chairman of the Cannes International Film Festival, Thierry Fremo.

On 27, director bong will participate at the master class in Lyon which is two hours away from Paris as his re-mastered version of “The Host” will hit the screens.

The Lumiere Institute addressed that they will be hosting the special exhibition for director Bong from February 9 until March 22, in celebration of premiere of his movie “The Host” in 4K.

The exhibition will screen various movies by the director, from “The Host,” “Parasite,” “Snow Piercer,” “Okja” and more.

The Lumiere institute which works to support, preserve and distribute the heritage of films, addressed the upcoming exhibition with the question of “Do we need to introduce director Bong to you?”

Director Bong who has won four of the titles from various international film festivals including ones from Academy Awards, and Cannes International Film Festival, is considered to be one of the most influential and important person within the current era.

Moreover, director Bong who has majored in Sociology, explained how he continues on to dig deeper into the unique characteristics of Korean audience, and proceeds to switch that uniqueness into a common feature.

Continuing on director Bong was described as “The picky and ambitious writer oriented films manages to touch audiences heart by creating the unimaginable synergy,” adding “He is probably one of the most creative person within Asia.”
