SEOUL, Aug. 3 (Yonhap) -- Dino of K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN will release his first solo EP as his alter ego, Pi Cheol-in, at 6 p.m. Monday, his agency Pledis Entertainment said.

Titled "Gilboard," the album reinterprets genres such as EDM trap, city pop and new jack swing through the lens of Korea's distinctive spirit of excitement and festivity.

The lead track, "Let's Have Some Fun," was produced by renowned composer Hitchhiker. The song combines sophisticated, vibrant melodies with witty lyrics, highlighting Pi Cheol-in's playful charm and free-spirited energy.

"I gave a lot of thought to building the album around genres that could best convey Korea's retro sensibility and the full spectrum of human emotions," Dino said through his agency. "Rather than simply delivering fun, I wanted to express the many emotions of life infused with Korean spirit and soul."

In a rare move for an idol singer, Dino unveiled the new song first on KBS 1TV's long-running music competition program "National Singing Contest."

"I wanted Pi Cheol-in to come across as approachable to many people. As I thought about the best way to do that, I chose this stage," he said. "When I watch performances by senior artists from the 1970s and 1980s, I can feel their freedom and individuality. I wanted to express myself more freely in the same way. True to the title 'Gilboard,' I wanted to share the music and the joys and sorrows it contains with as many people as possible."

He added, "Through Pi Cheol-in, I wanted to challenge myself with a concept I had never attempted before. I wanted to show a fresh side of myself that only I can express. I hope 'Gilboard' brings joy, empathy and comfort to people in the midst of their busy, painful and exhausting daily lives, while also becoming another milestone of growth and youthful passion for me."
