SEOUL, June 15 (Yonhap) -- Actor-singer Lee Jun-young will begin his mandatory military service as an active-duty Army soldier on July 21, his agency Billions said Monday.
Lee, 29, will quietly enter an Army boot camp without holding any separate event. After completing basic military training, he will be assigned to a unit for active-duty service.
In a handwritten letter posted on social media, Lee said, "Now that I have received the date, I find myself thinking a lot for the first time in a while," adding, "I will return healthy and in my own way."
Lee made his entertainment debut in 2014 when he joined boy group U-KISS as a new member.
He began his acting career with the 2017 drama series "Avengers Social Club" and has since established himself as an actor through works including "D.P.," "Imitation," "Let Me Be Your Knight," "Melo Movie," "When Life Gives You Tangerines" and "Weak Hero Class 2."
He has also continued his music career, releasing his first solo EP, "LAST DANCE," last year.
Lee is currently appearing in the JTBC weekend drama series "Reborn Rookie." Even after his enlistment, he is expected to remain active on screen through previously completed projects, including the tvN drama series "Four Hands," the Netflix series "What a Damn Love," in which he makes a special appearance, and the film "Autograph."
