SEOUL April (29 (Yonhap) -- For years, Lee Joo-bin dreamed of becoming an entertainer, but her path to stardom was anything but easy. Despite auditioning for roles for a decade, she faced numerous rejections and struggled to make her acting debut.
Finally, her breakthrough came with a role as a dialogue-less secretary in the SBS drama "Whisper." Although initially overlooked for her acting talent, Lee Joo-bin's recent performance in the tvN drama "Queen of Tears" has garnered critical acclaim, showcasing her ability to portray complex emotions and earning her newfound recognition as a talented actress.
Reflecting on her journey, actress expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love and support she has received, describing it as surreal and overwhelming. In "Queen of Tears," she portrayed the character Cheon Da-hye, the daughter-in-law of a prominent conglomerate, whose initially reserved demeanor gives way to a more complex and layered personality as the series progresses.
Lee revealed that she had to audition a total of 15 times for the role, as the character required a nuanced portrayal of hidden emotions. Despite her character's outward appearance of elegance and poise, Da-hye's true intentions gradually surface, revealing her inner struggles and desires.
Speaking about her character's motivations, Lee emphasized Da-hye's lack of ambition and described her as someone driven more by personal fulfillment than material desires. She also highlighted Da-hye's evolving relationship with her husband, played by Kwak Dong-yeon, as a central aspect of the storyline, portraying it as a rare and genuine love amidst the trappings of wealth and power.
