SEOUL, Nov. 1 (Yonhap) -- Since the Korean survival drama "Squid Game" gained larger-than-expected popularity throughout the world on Netflix, traces of "Squid Game" were easily found around the world on this year's Halloween day.
As green tracksuits worn in "Squid Game' sold out quickly after the drama aired, many assumed people would take inspiration from the Netflix drama for their Halloween costumes.
The Kulturbrauerei or "Culture Brewery" in Berlin brought out a spooky atmosphere by people dressing up as masked guards in pink jumpsuits while the streets in Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong's entertainment district, were filled with people imitating the "Squid Game" doll from the "Red Light, Green Light" game.
Seoul's downtown areas were no different than the others as people with "Squid Game"-themed costumes crowded the streets.
Some people wearing the green tracksuit had even engraved numbers 456 or 001 on their costumes in order to imitate Seong Gi-hun (actor Lee Jung-jae), the main character of "Squid Game" who was identified as Player 456, and Oh Il-nam (Oh Yeong-su), the elderly man who participates the game as Player 001.
The streets of Seoul's popular entertainment districs like Itaewon and Yongsan were full of people posing for commemorative photos while dressed as characters from "Squid Game."
