SEOUL, July 21 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actor Kwak Dong-yeon will begin his mandatory military service on Aug. 25 as an active-duty Army soldier, his agency said Tuesday.

Kwak, 29, will quietly enter an Army training center without holding a separate public event, complete basic military training and then be assigned to a unit for active-duty service, according to The Black Label.

"Kwak Dong-yeon plans to faithfully fulfill his national defense duty," the agency said.

Following news of his enlistment, actor Go Kyung-pyo has joined Season 2 of tvN's variety show "Bogum Magical," in which Kwak had appeared alongside actors Park Bo-gum and Lee Sang-yi.

Kwak made his acting debut in 2012 through the KBS 2TV drama "My Husband Got a Family."

He has since appeared in a wide range of projects, including "Love in the Moonlight," "Vincenzo," "Queen of Tears" and "6/45."

He also made a special appearance as the crown prince in the Netflix series "Donggung," released July 17, drawing attention from global viewers.
