SEOUL, Nov. 7 (Yonhap) -- V of K-pop superband BTS will unveil a duet of the iconic Christmas classic White Christmas with legendary pop singer Bing Crosby on Dec. 6, BigHit Music announced on Thursday.

The song, originally released in 1942, is one of Crosby’s most beloved and well-known carols. For the upcoming duet, V reinterprets parts of the song in his own distinctive style.

BigHit Music described the collaboration as a "timeless partnership" between two musical icons, noting that this marks the first Crosby duet to be released since his collaboration with David Bowie in 1977, nearly 47 years ago.

According to the label, the project began as a tribute from V, who has long admired Crosby. In 2022, V covered Crosby's song It's Been a Long, Long Time, which gained recognition from Crosby's official channel, calling V a promising "crooner" in the vein of Crosby himself.

Bing Crosby, both a celebrated singer and actor, remains a 20th-century icon and member of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His rendition of White Christmas has been covered by numerous artists over the decades, including Michael Bublé, Taylor Swift, and Katy Perry. However, BigHit Music highlighted the uniqueness of V’s rendition as it’s the first-ever Crosby duet recording of the song.

In recent years, V has demonstrated his solo potential with the release of his debut album "Layover" in September last year and the digital single "FRI(END)S" in March.

Currently serving in the South Korean military, V is expected to complete his mandatory service by June next year.
