SEOUL, April 7 (Yonhap) -- GHOST9, a group gaining attention for its music and performances based on a unique worldview, is making a comeback with their new album “ARCADE: VOW” on the 7th.

"Not only is it a comeback after five months, but it is also our first activity this year, so we’re really excited” said GHOST 9 in a meeting with the media.

“ARCADE:V” includes 6 songs with “X-Ray,” their synth bass based title song that reminds the listeners a scene of a movie, “Dot”, “CHAMPION”, and “T.Y.T (Take You There).”

“While we’ve been focusing on trying to show different sides of myself, this time We wanted to show what We are good at. Maybe that’s why it was a little difficult to record” said Lee Kang-sung.

In particular, about the title song, he said, “Each member’s ‘killing part’ will stand out.” He also added, “It’s a song that best suits GHOST9.”

The members did agree that their US tour performance at the beginning of the year was a big help in preparing for their comeback.

The group performed in four cities last January including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Boston. They also performed on the halftime show at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins team’s basketball game for the first time as a K-pop group.

“At first, we had ‘Champion’ in mind as the title song, but after considering and discussing about what song received the highest response from the fans in US and what our own style was, we decided to change the title song.” Choi Jun-seong said.

Debuted in the September of 2020, it has been about 1 year and 6 months since the group has been active. At the time of their debut, the 9-member group became a 7-member group with two members including Hwang Dong-jun and Lee Tae-sung leaving.

“It wasn’t easy to fill the roles of the two members” leader, Son Jun-hyung said. “But the remaining members tried newer things than trying encourage and fill in the vacancy.”

Choi Jun-seong emphasized, “Through this activity, we want to be recognized and accepted by the singers working in the same field and further imprint out existence.”

“Till now, if we only had a single sheet of drawing paper, our journey with so many twists and turns was to find a 4B pencil. But now, it’s our turn to draw. The final version is probably going to be heaven.” (Choi Jun-seong)
