'Jurassic World 4' tops weekend box office for 2nd week, chased by 'Superman'

SEOUL, July 14 (Yonhap) -- "Jurassic World: New Dawn," starring Scarlett Johansson, remained atop the weekend box office for the second consecutive week, data showed Monday.

 

According to the Korean Film Council's box office tracking system, the Gareth Edwards-directed "Jurassic World 4" attracted about 456,000 moviegoers from July 11 to 13, securing a 26.0 percent share of total ticket sales.

 

Coming in second was the Hollywood superhero film "Superman," released on July 9, which drew some 397,000 viewers during the same period, accounting for 24.5 percent of the box office share.

 

In third place was the horror film "Noise," starring Lee Sun-bin, which pulled in approximately 313,000 viewers with an 18.6 percent revenue share.

 

"F1: The Movie," now in its third week of release, ranked fourth with about 273,000 admissions (16.8 percent), followed by the horror thriller "Ghost Train," starring actress Joo Hyun-young, in fifth place with 44,000 moviegoers (2.5 percent).

 

Directed by Tak Se-woong, "Ghost Train" follows YouTuber Da-kyung (played by Joo Hyun-young) as she investigates the mysterious disappearances surrounding Gwangnim Station in a bid to boost her channel's viewership.

 

The Hollywood fantasy film "How to Train Your Dragon" ranked sixth with 42,000 admissions over the weekend, bringing its cumulative total to about 1.76 million viewers.
