SEOUL, April 2 (Yonhap) -- Filmmaker Hong Sang-soo’s new film "The Day She Returns" will be released in South Korea on May 6, its production company Jeonwonsa Film said Thursday.
The black-and-white film, Hong’s 34th feature, follows a day in the life of actress Bae Jung-soo, who returns to acting through an independent film after a hiatus of more than a decade.
Actress Song Sun-mi plays the lead role of Bae Jung-soo, with Cho Yeo-hee, Park Mi-so, Kim Sun-jin, Oh Yoon-soo, Kang So-yi, Ha Seong-guk and Shin Seok-ho also appearing in the film.
Hong took on multiple roles in the production, including directing, writing, cinematography, editing and music. Actress Kim Min-hee participated as production manager.
"The Day She Returns" was first screened for audiences after being invited to the Panorama section of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival in February.
The Panorama section highlights contemporary social issues and emerging cinematic trends.
Hong’s films have been invited to the Berlin International Film Festival for seven consecutive years.
