SEOUL February 2 (Yonhap) -- Some of the tracks from smaller idol groups outside of the boundaries of entertainment giants are being shined upon throughout the music scene.
According to the music industry on Thursday, K-pop girl group H1-Key which released a track called “Rose Blossom” in January 2023, is constantly climbing up the ladder within South Korean music streaming service Melon.
South Korean boy band Day 6’s member Young K is known to have participated in coming up with the lyrics to the track “Rose Blossom.” The track describes coming of age and overcoming hardships on a rose which bloomed in the streets.
Throughout the track group mended the broken hearts of those by addressing “I’m a rose which bloomed in between buildings, until the deserted city becomes beautiful again, I will do my best.”
Moreover, the track shines the light on the uncomfortable truth regarding the unbalanced nature of current society by addressing “Flowers that are not pretty gets sorted out and chopped off.”
With such relatable lines, and peaceful melody, the track started to attract a lot of listeners.
According to the data released by Melon, “Rose Blossom” was ranked way outside of the thousands, however on January 23, the track started to resurface and ranked on 887th on the list. Later on the song slowly became more popular and popular as the day went by and ended up ranking 283rd on January 29.
Although the track is still ranked outside of the 100 most streamed tracks, with the stagnated music charts dominated by the idols from the big 4 major entertainment agencies the track seemed to have been successful. Especially, given the situation that the small medium entertainment companies have hard time competing with the major agencies not only on the size but their asset on promoting the group.

H1-Key which released “Athletic Girl” and group’s second single “Run” worked with the concept of healthy sporty girl group. Later on as they hit the second year mark, the group transformed their image and tried out the new concept.
According to the official from GLG “We thought the group needed a full change on their concept because they have already worked with the same concept twice,” adding “Since we have moved on to the internal beauty, I think it provided us to showcase various images within the group.”
On a bright side, the track “Time of Our life” by the group Day6 which was released on July of 2019, is also climbing up the ladder after the track has been released for over 3 years.
The track “Time of Our Life” has managed to rank 105th within the chart despite of the hiatus of the group due to members military duties.
Member of the group Young K, Wonpil and Dowoon appeared on to the music program “Immortal Songs : singing the legend” provided by KBS 2TV and performed the same track attracting a lot of listeners.
According to the official of JYP Entertainment “We think, the refreshing sounds, and hopeful message the track withholds has something to do with the love it receives.”
Kwon Eun-bi’s track “Underwater” with refreshing and bouncy beat, which also made it up to the 202nd within the chart attracted a lot of listeners.
The entertainment agency Woollim addressed “We think the beautiful voice and flamboyant performance of the track has helped the resurface of the track.”
