SEOUL, Sept. 24 (Yonhap) -- The music video for all-female-act BLACKPINK's song "Ddu-du Ddu-du" has garnered 1.7 billion views on YouTube.

The 2018 hit broke the record around 7 p.m. on Thursday (local time), according to the K-pop act's management agency YG Entertainment.

The record came after three years and three months since the music video was released in June 2018 and it is the first time for a K-pop group to exceed 1.7 billion views.

"Ddu-du Ddu-du," the title track for BLACKPINK's first EP "SQUARE UP" features an addictive chorus and powerful choreography.

Shortly after its release, the pop-rap track entered No. 55 on the U.S. Billboard's main single chart and as BLACKPINK boasts one of the world's biggest fandom, the music video ranked first in 2018 as the world's most watched K-pop music video.
