'Figure skating queen' Kim Yu-na donates 100 mln won to east coast wildfires victims

SEOUL, Mar. 8 (Yonhap) -- "The Queen of figure skating" Kim Yu-na(32) donated 100 million won to Hope Bridge Association of the National Disaster Relief to help victims of S. Korea’s east coast wildfires at Uljin in North Gyeongsang Province and Samcheok in Gangwon Province, saying “I hope the eastern coastal area can be recovered as soon as possible.”

Kim contributed 50 million won to the association in support of the wildfires in Gangwon Province in 2019, and has been actively making donations at home and abroad.

S. Korean short tracker Choi Min-jeong, who won a gold and two silver medals at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, and S. Korean male volleyball player Jeong Ji-seok, who plays for the Incheon Korean Air Jumbos in the V-League, each donated 50 million won and 30 million won to the same association.
