SEOUL, Jan. 14 (Yonhap) -- Jimin(real name Shin Ji-min), the former member of AOA, left the agency.
FNC Entertainment said through the official website on Jan. 13, “The exclusive contract period with our artist Jimin ended as of Jan. 12, 2022.
The agency mentioned, “We would like to express our gratitude to Jimin, who has actively performed as a singer for the past 9 years,” adding, “Although our relationship with Jimin has ended, please show warm encouragement and support for Jimin’s future path.”
Jimin, a leader and main rapper of the K-pop girl group AOA, debuted in 2012, drew attention with hit songs “Miniskirt,” “Short Hair,” “Hear Attack,” and “Like a Cat.”
However, as the controversy arose over bullying the former member Kwon Mina, it led to negative images of Jimin and the singer eventually left the team in July, 2020.
As the members left one after another, AOA currently has only 3 members left, such as Seol-hyun, Chan-mi, and Hye-jeong.
