SEOUL, April 24 (Yonhap) -- A court has accepted an injunction request filed by nine members of K-pop group THE BOYZ to suspend their exclusive contracts with agency One Hundred Label, their legal representative said Friday.

 

Attorney Kim Moon-hee of law firm Yulchon, representing the nine members excluding member New, said the court made the decision a day earlier.

 

Kim said the court found that the agency had violated its obligation to pay settlement earnings and failed to provide relevant data needed to verify the accuracy of settlements. It also determined that the agency did not fulfill key contractual duties, including management support and artist protection, leading to an irreparable breakdown of trust between the two sides.

 

The agency had argued that upfront payments made to the members should be regarded as advance payments. However, the court rejected the claim, noting that contract provisions clearly separate upfront payments from profit-based settlement distributions.

 

Kim added that the members plan to honor previously confirmed schedules even before the termination of their exclusive contracts, in order to keep promises to fans and minimize harm to third parties.
