Shin Dong-yup was nominated as winner of the grand prize for hosting KBS music competition program "Immortal Songs" for 11 years.
As he was announced as the winner of this year's grand prize, he said, "I am grateful to other candidates who have not been able to perform well," adding, "Thanks to you," drawing laughter.
He then said, "I never expected to win the grand prize this year."
He said, "I think I won the grand prize as a representative because there are so many singers who appeared in 'Immortal Songs' and it is impossible to call them one by one."
Shin Dong-yeop, who made his debut in the broadcasting industry as a comedian for SBS in 1991, played an active role in SBS comedy programs "Railman," "Our Happy Saturday," and MBC sitcom "' Guys n Girls."
He built an unrivaled character with "R-rated Jokes" that narrowly crosses the line, and later hosted KBS's counseling program "Hello Counselor," SBS's "Strong Heart," and "My Little Old Boy."
"Immortal Songs" was selected as the best program award selected by viewers' votes.
The 20th Anniversary Special Achievement Award went to the late Song Hae, who hosted the National Singing Contest for decades.
