SEOUL April 5 (Yonhap) -- Japanese animation movie “The First Slam Dunk” shortened as (Slam Dunk) which has wrote the record for successfully attracting significant amount of viewers, will be revisiting the theater in an IMAX format on May.
It comes down as an interesting factor whether greater definition, with high quality, and better audio will be able to reignite the fame of Slam Dunk
Press conference of the IMAX version of the movie slam dunk took place in a South Korean movie theater CGV located in Wangsimni station on April 4.
The movie which has been transformed into a IMAX format has managed to engage the audience more proficiently throughout the movie.
Especially throughout the scenes where it depicts the basketball match, audiences were provided with the clear definition of the scene to a point where they were able to witness the drop of sweat from individual plays and fast foot works. Moreover, the IMAX format of the movie managed to capture the direction of the ball bouncing on the court.
Most importantly, the gigantic screen which are much bigger in size was enough to mesmerize the audience, with the greater screen audiences were able to enjoy the small little details which the director has included within the film more effectively.
IMAX format of the movie slam dunk will premiere within 21 various locations of CGV starting on Wednesday.
According to strategy planning division of CGV, Hwang Jae-hyun, “IMAX version of the movie ’The First Slam Dunk’ will be able to provide viewers with more lively experience, which will work as a factor to attract more audiences.”
Japanese Animation Slam Dunk which premiered on January 4, successfully guarded its throne for over three months and is continuing on with its exceptional success. So far over 4.38 million audiences have watched the movies.
Due to the premiere of movie “Suzume,” the fame of “The First Slam Dunk” seemed to die down a bit however, as the premiere of the IMAX version of the movie is about to hit the screen, the movie managed to take over the throne of “Suzume” starting on April 3, ready to attract more audience.
Kim Hyung-ho the film market analyst, addressed “’The First Slam Dunk’ is very popular amongst the audiences in their 30s and 40s therefore if the IMAX version of the movie were to hit the screens, it will stimulate the audiences to watch the movie multiple times,” adding “The premiere of the IMAX verison of the movie will work as an advertisements for the original version of the movie as well so I personally believe the movie will be able to attract about 5 million audiences in total.”
