SEOUL, Oct. 8 (Yonhap) — An AI learning festival featuring competitions against artificial intelligence in omok and drawing, as well as hands-on experiences with humanoid robots and virtual reality, will be held at Seoul Forest later this month.
The Seoul Lifelong Education Institute said Thursday it will host the "2026 Seoul AI Lifelong Learning Running Ground" at The Seoul Lightium in Galleria Foret at Seoul Forest in Seongdong-gu, eastern Seoul, on Oct. 23-24.
Under the theme "AI × Lifelong Learning, Where Learning for All Generations Connects," the event will feature more than 30 interactive booths divided into six zones.
Visitors will be able to experience AI-powered storybook creation and interview training, career planning, humanoid robots, virtual reality and assistive technologies, as well as robot racing and soccer.
Programs will also allow visitors to draw pictures and play omok, a traditional Korean board game similar to Gomoku, against AI and compare human and AI approaches to problem-solving.
"AI Learning Forest: Secret Code for Future Talent," a program developed in collaboration with the Seongsu-dong experience center Real World Seongsu, will allow participants to learn about AI while completing missions throughout the venue.
Families can also create stories with AI and turn them into books through the "Family AI Storybook Creation" program. An exhibition of 1,000 AI-related books will also be held.
Experts including Kim Dae-sik, a professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Kim Sang-kyun, a professor at Kyung Hee University, Koo Bon-kwon, head of the AI and Literacy Research Institute, and Lee Eun-young, CEO of Unique Good Company, will give lectures on learning methods in the AI era and ways to nurture future talent.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free. Participants can register in advance on the event's website or register on site on the day of the event.
Han Yong-jin, head of the Seoul Lifelong Education Institute, said the institute will continue to expand learning opportunities so citizens can experience AI firsthand and use it in their daily lives.
