SEOUL, July 4 (Yonhap) -- Leading K-pop girl group NewJeans is stepping up to promote Korean tourism.
According to sources in the tourism and music industries on the 3rd, NewJeans has been selected as the "2024 Honorary Ambassadors for Korean Tourism" by the Korea Tourism Organization.
Debuting in 2022, NewJeans has experienced sensational popularity with hits like "Attention," "Hype Boy," "Ditto," "OMG," and their latest release "How Sweet." Despite internal conflicts between ADOR's CEO Min Hee-jin and the parent company HYBE, they recently showcased their unwavering popularity by selling out two days of fan meetings at Tokyo Dome.
In May, NewJeans participated in the "2024 Korea on Stage - New Generation" event at Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, where they performed their hit songs in traditional Hanbok, promoting Korean beauty to the world.
The official appointment ceremony for NewJeans as the Honorary Ambassadors for Korean Tourism is scheduled for later this month.
