SEOUL, Sept. 4 (Yonhap) -- Kim Gun-mo will kick off a national tour in Daegu next month ahead of the 35th anniversary of his debut, concert organizer iStar Media Company said. 

 

Following Daegu, Kim will perform in Jeonju on Oct. 31, Gwangju on Dec. 5 and Goyang on Dec. 26. The tour will continue into next year. 

 

Kim made his debut in 1992 with his first full-length album "While the Rain Falls on a Sleepless Night" and went on to produce numerous hit songs with his distinctive voice, including "Wrongful Meeting," "Beautiful Farewell," "First Impression," "Love All by Myself," "Excuse" and "A Bird Flying Over the Cuckoo's Nest."

 

In July, Kim played guitar rather than piano on his first new song in 10 years, "Where Are You Heading?" He will also perform with a guitar on stage during the upcoming tour.

 

The organizer said, "Kim Gun-mo is devoting himself to guitar practice for the tour to the point that he has developed calluses on his fingertips."

 

Kim, referring to the six-year hiatus from his career after becoming embroiled in allegations that were later found to have no basis for charges, said, "It didn't take long for the tower I had built over 28 years to collapse." He added, "Rather than building a taller tower now, I want to pave a path that younger artists can walk."

 

"I will pave that path with our stories, taking different steps under the same name," he added.

 

Kim will begin releasing new songs this fall and aims to release a full-length album next year.
