SEOUL, Sept. 4 (Yonhap) -- In response to the growing issue of deepfake exploitation, major entertainment agencies like Cube Entertainment and YG Entertainment have been taking a stand.
On the 3rd, Cube Entertainment, the agency behind the girl group (G)I-DLE, announced through its official X (formerly Twitter) account, "We have confirmed that malicious deepfake content targeting our artists is being circulated online." The agency further stated, "We are continuously monitoring the situation and gathering evidence. We will take strong legal action against the creators and distributors of these deepfake materials without leniency."
Similarly, YG Entertainment stated the previous day that they are actively working to remove deepfake content involving their artists and are pursuing criminal procedures against those responsible.
Prior to this, JYP Entertainment and Woollim Entertainment, which represents singer Kwon Eun-bi, also announced plans for legal action against similar offenses.
