SEOUL, Sept. 16 (Yonhap) -- A signature autumn festival centered on silver grass will be held at Hwangmaesan Mountain in Hapcheon, South Gyeongsang Province, as summer hydrangeas fade and autumn approaches.

Hapcheon County said Wednesday that it will hold the fifth Hwangmaesan Silver Grass Festival for nine days from Oct. 17-25 throughout Hwangmaesan County Park.

Around mid-October, Hwangmaesan is expected to be covered in waves of silver grass at their peak, offering visitors a scenic autumn hiking destination.

To allow visitors to enjoy the mountain's scenery more comfortably, the county will operate free "Sharing Cart Tours" on weekdays on a first-come, first-served basis for people with mobility challenges, including people with disabilities, those aged 70 or older and pregnant women, along with one accompanying caregiver.

Pre-registration is available for "Docent Tours," during which forest interpreters will introduce the area's nature and history.

Stalls selling local agricultural and specialty products and a food market will operate throughout the festival.

"We hope everyone visiting Hwangmaesan will fully enjoy the deep atmosphere of autumn and take home memories that will last for a long time," Hapcheon County Mayor Kim Yun-cheol said.
