SEOUL, Dec. 6 (Yonhap) -- A major film industry association issued a manifesto on Thursday evening, demanding the immediate resignation of President Yoon Suk Yeol.
The Film Industry Alliance for Overcoming the Crisis in the Film Industry (hereafter the Film Industry Alliance), issued a statement, declaring, "President Yoon, who has plunged the nation’s freedom and safety into disarray and inflicted humiliation upon its people, is no longer qualified to serve as the head of state and the executive leader of South Korea."
The statement also called for a thorough investigation, saying, "All those responsible for orchestrating and cooperating in the state of emergency must be held accountable to the fullest extent, with no wrongdoing overlooked."
The Film Industry Alliance is a coalition of organizations within the film sector, including the Korean Independent Cinemas Association, the Korean Society of Cinematographers (CGK), the Korean Film Producers Association (PGK), the Korean Film Council of Producers, and the Korean Actors Union.
The group was established in response to government initiatives such as the proposed abolition of cinema admission tax surcharges.
