BTS, first-time young voters cast ballots in local elections

SEOUL, June 4 (Yonhap) -- Celebrities joined voters across the country in casting their ballots and encouraging civic participation during South Korea's ninth nationwide local elections and parliamentary by-elections held on June 3.

 

BTS member Jin, who briefly returned to South Korea after completing the Las Vegas stop of the group's "ARIRANG" world tour spanning 34 cities worldwide, cast his ballot at Polling Station No. 3 in Hannam-dong, Yongsan Ward, flashing a bright smile as he exercised his right to vote.

Television personality Jang Young-ran shared a photo of her hand stamped after voting and urged followers to participate, writing, "Please make sure to vote, even if you're busy."

 

Actress So Yoo-jin also posted a photo of a polling station, saying she had completed voting despite her busy schedule with her three children.

 

Actor Yoon Jong-hoon, currently appearing in the KBS 1TV daily drama "Happy Our Good Day," uploaded a photo taken in front of a polling station and wrote, "Let's all vote."

 

Several stars drew attention by bringing their children to polling stations, using the occasion to highlight the significance of voting.

 

Musical actors Kim So-hyun and Son Jun-ho shared a family photo taken at a polling station with their son Joo-an, writing, "Teaching the value of a precious vote."

Broadcaster Jang Sung-kyu also posted a voting certification photo and wrote, "My son's first visit to a polling station. To those who are elected, please take good care of our children."

 

Actor Jin Tae-hyun and actress Park Si-eun likewise shared photos showing them voting in sportswear after completing an early morning running session.

 

K-pop girl group ODD YOUTH visited polling stations together, with all members except the Japanese member casting ballots and encouraging the public to vote.

 

Member Kani, born in 2007 and voting for the first time, said, "I cast my first ballot as an adult and as a citizen of South Korea. It feels very rewarding."

 

Another member, Summer, said she had exercised her right to vote as a proud citizen of South Korea.

Earlier, CORTIS members Martin and Juhun, along with ifeye members Won Hwayeon, Taerin, Rahee and Kasia, participated in early voting and shared photos confirming their participation.

 

Martin and Juhun, both born in 2008 and eligible to vote for the first time, posted photos holding their early voting certificates on Weverse, writing, "We're adults now, too."
