SEOUL, June 4 (Yonhap) -- Shinsegae Department Store said Thursday that it will open an official BTS pop-up store at its Centum City branch in Busan ahead of the group's world tour concerts in the southeastern port city on June 12-13.
The pop-up, organized jointly by Shinsegae and HYBE, is timed to coincide with BTS' Busan performances. Shinsegae previously operated a BTS pop-up store at its main branch in Seoul in conjunction with the group's comeback concerts held near Gwanghwamun Square.
The pop-up will run from June 5-14 at the Event Hall on the B1 floor and the Hyper Stage on the B2 floor of Shinsegae Centum City. The venue has been divided into two zones designed to offer both shopping and immersive fan experiences. Merchandise sales will be operated entirely through an advance reservation system in anticipation of high demand.
The B1 Event Hall will feature an official merchandise shop offering a variety of BTS products, while the B2 Hyper Stage will provide an experiential space where visitors can engage with the group's music through a multi-sensory experience.
The space has been designed to allow fans and visitors to experience the atmosphere of the upcoming Busan concerts in advance.
In addition to merchandise previously available at official BTS pop-up stores, the Busan event will introduce exclusive products created specifically for the local pop-up.
A Shinsegae official said the company prepared the event to help visitors gain a deeper appreciation of the significance of BTS' Busan tour dates.
"Shinsegae Department Store will continue to create special moments with global music fans as a hub of K-pop culture," the official said.
Shinsegae Centum City, widely known as one of Busan's landmark shopping destinations, is the world's largest department store by floor area. It ranks first in sales among retailers in the Busan region and third nationwide.
The store is also the first and only regional department store in South Korea to surpass 2 trillion won (US$1.46 billion) in annual transactions for three consecutive years.
Centum City houses global luxury brands such as Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Goyard, alongside K-fashion and beauty spaces including Hyper Ground and the New Contemporary Specialty Hall.
Foreign customer sales at the branch more than doubled in the January-April period compared with the same period last year, reflecting growing international demand. Facilities such as its ice rink and Spa Land have become popular attractions for overseas visitors seeking K-culture experiences.
By offering unique retail spaces and experiences, Centum City has strengthened its position as a global tourism destination and a key driver of Busan's tourism industry.
