SEOUL, Oct. 24 (Yonhap) -- South Korean singer-rapper Jessi issued a public apology on Thursday, expressing remorse for an incident in which a fan was assaulted by one of her entourage members after requesting a photo.

Jessi apologized to the victim and their family, stating, "I offer my heartfelt apologies to the victim and their family, who have suffered because of this incident."

In a post on her Instagram, Jessi admitted, "Even though the incident occurred because of me, from the moment it happened until now, my wrong actions, attitude, and lack of response caused harm to the victim and many others, making them feel betrayed and angry."

The incident in question took place in the early hours of September 29 in Apgujeong, Seoul, when a minor fan approached Jessi for a photo but was assaulted by a male member of her group. Jessi was later questioned by police as a suspect on October 16, facing criticism for her passive response in addressing the issue. She has since terminated her contract with her agency at her own request.

"I've regretted it thousands, no, millions of times. If I could go back in time, I would. If I had taken the photo with the fan, if I had actively protected them, if I had gone straight to the police, if I had sincerely apologized, the victim wouldn’t be suffering like this," Jessi wrote. She acknowledged, "This is all my responsibility."

Jessi concluded her apology by saying, "I know words alone cannot make things right, but even now, I will do everything in my power to correct my mistakes and help the victim heal. Though it's too late, I ask for forgiveness once again. I was wrong."
