SEOUL, Aug. 26 (Yonhap) -- A Japanese remake of the hit Korean drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo," starring Park Eun-bin, will premiere in October.

Kansai TV said on its official website Tuesday that "Extraordinary Attorney Minami" will premiere at 10 p.m. on Oct. 19.

The series is a remake of the 2022 ENA drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo."

"Extraordinary Attorney Woo" recorded a peak viewership rating of 17.5 percent, the highest in ENA's history, and topped Netflix's non-English TV series chart for seven consecutive weeks after its release on the streaming platform.

The Japanese adaptation's protagonist, Minamida Minami, will be played by Mana Ashida, who has been dubbed Japan's "national little sister" for her roles in the dramas "Mother" and "Marumo's Rule" and Guillermo del Toro's Hollywood film "Pacific Rim."

Minamida Minami graduates top of her class from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law and passes the bar exam with the highest score. However, she is unable to find employment at any law firm due to social prejudice against her autism spectrum disorder.

She eventually joins one of the industry's leading law firms by chance and tackles a series of difficult cases in her own unique way.

"I originally loved the original series. I was truly surprised when I received the offer, to the point of thinking, 'Could I really be getting an offer like this?'" Ashida said on the official website. "I think this will be a major challenge for me. While I feel the pressure because the original was loved by so many people, I hope I can portray my own version of Minami."

She added, "I think one of the charms of the original is the loveliness of Woo Young-woo, played by Park Eun-bin. Beyond the enjoyment of a courtroom drama, the series delicately portrays the relationships and emotions of the people involved, and I want to carefully preserve those emotional nuances in the Japanese version as well."

"Extraordinary Attorney Minami" will be released simultaneously on Fuji TV's network and Netflix.
