SEOUL, Sept. 15 (Yonhap) -- Shopee, a leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia, said Tuesday that sales by Korean sellers during its "9.9 Mega Day" event on Sept. 9 reached their highest level in the past four years.
According to Shopee Korea, Korean sellers' overall sales on the day were seven times higher than their average daily sales in the second quarter of this year. By category, K-beauty sales increased sevenfold, K-fashion sales fivefold and home and living sales more than threefold.
Orders for home and living products, in particular, rose 69 percent from last year's "9.9 Mega Day," led by home fragrances, aromatherapy products and kitchenware.
Shopee, the largest e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, said the results across the regions show that demand for Korean products is expanding beyond K-beauty into fashion, lifestyle and home-related categories.
By country, orders for products sold by Korean sellers in Vietnam stood out, reaching 13 times the average daily level in the second quarter on the event day.
