SEOUL, Aug. 20 (Yonhap) -- The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Thursday it will launch the "Han River Night View Tour" on Aug. 28, allowing participants to walk along scenic spots along the Han River with professional guides.
The tour will take place every Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. and will offer two routes: "Banpo Moonlight Trail" and "Yeouido Starlight Trail."
The "Banpo Moonlight Trail" runs from Seorae Island through Sebitseom and the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain, while the "Yeouido Starlight Trail" passes through the Han River Art Park, the Yeouido Han River Bus dock, Mulbit Stage and Mulbit Square.
The Banpo route will feature activities such as making mood lights, while participants on the Yeouido route will walk along the river carrying LED balloons.
Any adult can apply for the Han River Night View Tour, while children can participate with a guardian as part of a family group. Participants will be selected by lottery.
The "Han River History Tour," which allows participants to walk while listening to stories about the Han River's history, culture and notable figures from professional guides, will also continue through Nov. 15. Participants can choose from 16 routes, including Gwangnaru Trail, Ttukseom Naru Trail, Seonyudo Trail and Mapo Naru Trail.
Neither program will operate during the Seoul World Fireworks Festival on Sept. 4-5 or the Chuseok holiday from Sept. 24-27.
"We hope many citizens will enjoy a relaxing time amid the Han River's nighttime scenery and make special memories," Park Jin-young, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Future Hangang Division, said.
